Lactobacillus acidophilus - you probably recognise this from your yogurt pot - is abundant in goat tripe. This probiotic protects the gut against bad bacteria by breaking down food in the intestine and creating an environment that fosters good gut health.
It is also rich in digestive enzymes which help to break down cellulose (the walls of plant matter). Dogs do not naturally produce these enzymes, so tripe is an excellent addition to their diet.
